Sasha Rowena Reinvents 100s of Years Old Art

PR Log (Press Release) – Dec 27, 2009 – With pouty lips and cascading tresses, the petite SASHA ROWENA could easily pass as the happier brunette version of Hollywood fashion powerhouses, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.  Add glamorous personal style and a budding entrepreneurial sense to the mix and we have a hot new designer to keep on the radar.

With the debut collection of talented new designer SASHA ROWENA, Jendela KL casts the spotlight on another cultural treasure with the fourth instalment of its Artists@Jendela KL series.  Cut from exotic dyed leathers sourced from Argentina to Italy, Sasha Rowena revamps the familiar wayang kulit story.  Inspired by the intricate lines and forms of the traditional puppet craft, Sasha brings a contemporary edge to her designs with traditional leather patterns artfully contrasted against boldly coloured fabrics.  The collection also demonstrates Sasha’s sense of modern style and versatility with designs that play on elements other than wayang kulit.

These one of a kind handcrafted pieces feature python, cobra and embossed leather in fuschia, purple, yellow, white and black, making Sasha Rowena’s designs all fabulous exclusive statement pieces.

Kicking off her debut with a hot launch in November, Jendela KL once again pays homage to the local arts scene with this special showcase celebrating the works of upcoming Malaysian artists.  The series is an integral component of Jendela KL’s CSR Foundation that is committed to the uplifting of the arts.

Sasha will also be participating in an exciting collaboration with Four Seasons Langkawi and Firefly Airlines which sees all of the featured artist@Jendela KL; Silversmith Maureen Soon, visual artist Munkao, interior designer Safwan Fathy and performing duo Diana "Didi" Moggie-Arriega and Christy Yeoh take centre stage against the idyllic island backdrop in the spirit of celebration in Langkawi to kick start the Art of Fashion at Four Seasons Langkawi- a fabulous month-long exhibition of art, design and performance - this December.  Positioned as a platform for upcoming Malaysian artists, the CSR program has exposed local talent to diverse audiences with special showcases since its inception in December 2008.

All of her collections will be available at www.sasharowena.com in mid January.
