PR Log (Press Release) –
Dec 15, 2009 – Links of London is delighted to be recognised as best ‘British Luxury Brand Overseas’ at this year’s Walpole Awards for Excellence, cementing the brand as a global leader within the affordable luxury market.
The annual Walpole awards for Excellence took place last night (16th November 2009), at Banqueting House, London and honoured those individuals and companies who have achieved the pinnacle of excellence across luxury, design, online, international, overseas and emerging talent.
This year, the award for ‘British Luxury Brand Overseas’ was judged by leading industry experts Richard Lambert, CBI; Sir David Bell, Pearson/Walpole, Sally Chatterjee, Visit London; Danny Lopez, UKTI; Martin Davidson, British Council and Sandie Dawe, VisitBritain.
The judges unanimously agreed that Links of London had achieved outstanding success in raising its profile and business overseas through export, expanding retail presence, increasing sales and through special events in 2009. The other nominees included Jaguar, Hackett, John Smedley, Fairline and The Rocco Forte Collection. The award is a fitting accolade; going very much against the grain in these hard times the jewellery, watch and gift brand continues to report solid sales growth and exciting expansion into new markets.
This year Links of London has seen new jewellery stores launching its men’s and women’s jewellery collections in Hawaii, Shanghai and Beijing with further growth planned in Asia. The company is rapidly adding to its store count of over 60 stores in key destinations including London, New York, Tokyo, Athens, Dubai and Hong Kong. Founded in 1990, the company was acquired by Folli Follie in July 2006. Following this acquisition Andrew Marshall was appointed CEO and with the support of Folli Follie Group’s infrastructure he has led Links of London into a period of international expansion and organic growth.
"We are thrilled to be recognised by the luxury industry for this award, I believe it is the greatest accolade when judged by one’s peer group and it is the result of tremendous hard work from the entire Links of London and Folli Follie Group teams that we have made such progress overseas in 2009"
Andrew Marshall, CEO Links of London.
Behind the continued success of the collections are uncompromising brand values and a clear brand DNA which Elizabeth Galton; Creative Director has firmly put her stamp on, with a strong creative vision.
Links of London looks forward to an exciting future, establishing itself in new markets and developing more interactive online content with the re-launch of its website in 2010.
