Christmas Shopping With Hotels In Glasgow City Centre

PR Log (Press Release) – Nov 24, 2009 – Glasgow, Scotland - A survey was conducted among 2,000 individuals across the UK with the purpose of exposing festive shopping habits. The survey was also aimed at identifying the services and types of stores directly related to creating the perfect Christmas atmosphere.

The information taken from this survey was then used by Yellow Pages’ analysts. Using a weighting system, they ranked the preferences given by the survey participants against the relevant services and shops in a particular area.

It is very interesting to note that Glasgow is among the top ten cities that provides a wonderful Christmas atmosphere. Another significant development is that Glasgow’s Buchanan Street has been named as the UK’s finest shopping street ahead of Regent Street in London and Dublin’s O’Connell Street.

According to Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, “These two accolades underline Glasgow’s undisputed status as the top retail centre in Britain outside London. And when you consider the throngs of people you might encounter on Oxford Street or Bond Street at this time of year, a half-mile sweep down Buchanan Street seems so much more civilized.

“That’s the beauty of shopping in Glasgow. We have giant malls, high street stores, designer boutiques and specialist outlets, all in a compact walkable space, made all the more special at Christmas time by a feast of festive events.”

Indeed, Glasgow is the place to be this Christmas season. It is the most exciting and largest retail centre in the UK outside London’s West End. Shoppers can have the choice of buying from department stores, specialty shops, high street stores and boutiques. With this type of diversity that Glasgow is offering, it is not surprising that shoppers find what they are looking for.

Visitors and tourists need not worry about finding decent, luxurious and affordable hotel accommodations as there are plenty to go about. For starters, they can check out The Argyll Hotel which is ideally located ½ mile west of Glasgow City Centre towards Glasgow West End.

Aside from shopping amenities, Glasgow also features festive programmes. Winterfest Glasgow is one of them. It is the city’s celebration programme that provides a wide range of events for the family even until January. Another special event is Glasgow on Ice which is featured in George Square.

Performances from The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Ballet and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra will likewise be held between now and until December 25.
